Abstract:

Goodwill defined as the excess of the price paid for the acquired company over the cost of its net assets. Goodwill is the subject of a large number of Russian and foreign researches. Determination of the reasonableness of the presence of goodwill can be seed only after a certain time after the acquisition and it is interesting object for researcher. This article reviews the largest mergers and acquisitions in the Russian fuel and energy complex implemented in 2013 with recognizing goodwill in the financial statements of customers. In the article was identified synergistic optimism index for each of the investigated transactions on the basis of a methodology for analyzing the effectiveness of mergers and acquisition developed by A.E. Ivanov. Also was maked monitoring of the presence in the financial statements of customers in 2014 write-downs of goodwill recognized as a result of impairment. The author concluded that despite the unfavorable economic situation in Russia synergistic optimism in fuel and energy complex is justified.
